Here at last is the promo for OCTAVIUS.
A tricky one because the effectiveness of the story relies on the reader not knowing much about it going in. So I opted for some ‘travelling through space’ footage and a bit of my now customary hand-drawn animation. In the story, Octavius disguises himself as a soldier in blue so here he is in his borrowed uniform, doing what he does second best: dancing. (If you want to find out what he does best, you’ll have to read the book!)
The music combines two tunes I wrote a long time ago. The introduction is from a song called “Everything” from my musical, Invasion of the Pod People and the second half is the chorus from “The Game of Love”, taken from my musical version of The Hound of the Baskervilles. Both of those shows were staged in the secondary school I was teaching Drama in at the time.
The animation was inspired by the works of Tex Avery and Preston Blair – if you’ve seen Red Hot Riding Hood, you’ll have seen moves like these before.
